Prepare CentOS for IBM software installation

1. Install the following packages for IBM installations:

  • yum install -y compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-69.el6
  • yum install -y compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-69.el6.i686
  • yum install -y compat-db-4.6.21-15
  • yum install -y compat-db-4.6.21-15.i686
  • yum install -y libXp-1.0.0-15.1
  • yum install -y libXp-1.0.0-15.1.i686
  • yum install -y libXmu-1.0.5-1
  • yum install -y libXmu-1.0.5-1.i686
  • yum install -y libXtst-1.0.99.2-3
  • yum install -y libXtst-1.0.99.2-3.i686
  • yum install -y pam-1.1.1-4
  • yum install -y pam-1.1.1-4.i686
  • yum install -y libXft-2.1.13-4.1
  • yum install -y libXft-2.1.13-4.1.i686
  • yum install -y gtk2-2.18.9-4
  • yum install -y gtk2-2.18.9-4.i686
  • yum install -y gtk2-engines-2.18.4-5
  • yum install -y gtk2-engines-2.18.4-5.i686
  • yum install -y libcanberra-gtk2
  • yum install -y libcanberra-gtk2.i686
  • yum install -y PackageKit-gtk-module
  • yum install -y PackageKit-gtk-module.i686
  • yum install -y gcc
  • yum install -y gcc-c++
  • yum install -y glibc
  • yum install -y glibc-common
  • yum install -y glibc-devel
  • yum install -y glibc-headers
  • yum install -y libgcc
  • yum install -y ld-linux.so.2
  • yum install -y libgcc_s.so.1

Note: You can run the command “rpm -qa|grep pckg” to verify what packages are already installed on your box.

2. Optional: create soft link to map the directory for installation:

  • mkdir /disk01/WebSphere
  • mkdir /opt/IBM
  • ln -s  /opt/disk01 (i.e path to actual file or directory) /opt/IBM/WebSphere (i.e path to symbolic link file or directory)
